What You Won't Get    Preparation    During the Massage
About the Office    After The Massage

What NOT to expect:

Contrary to common notions in our society, massage therapy is a healing art and not a sexual service. Any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances will result in the immediate termination of your session. Full payment will be due regardless of time spent in session.

How do I prepare for a massage?

Try to relax.

Take a shower, if it is possible.

Remove your makeup, if you have no plans to go out after the session.

Go to the restroom before you get on the massage table.

What is going to happen during the massage session?

During your massage session you will be given complete privacy to undress to your level of comfort and prepare for the massage.

You will be completely draped with a sheet and warm blanket during the session. Only the part of the body being worked on is exposed at any time.

The massage table is heated with a warming pad which functions like an electric blanket. The warming pad is underneath you like a mattress pad on your bed, not covering you like a blanket.

If at any time you are uncomfortable, please let me know and I will adjust pressure of the massage or temperature of the warming pad accordingly.

You may talk during your massage, or you may choose to use this as a time to be quiet. Either is fine with me.

What is the massage office like?

My office is located inside the Historic Carriage House behind the Historic Home at 650 Meander Street. The Day Spa atmosphere provides a calming and soothing environment in which you can enjoy your massage therapy, body treatment or organic spa facial in peace. There are no hairstylists or nail technicians, so the atmosphere remains relaxing and quiet at all times and the air is never scented with "eau de permanent wave" or hair relaxer, hairspray, hair color, bleach, nail polish, nail polish remover, or acrylic nail scents.

Often, I will burn candles or scent the air with an aromatherapy diffuser in my office. If any of these scents are offensive to you, please let me know so that I can remove them from the room.

How do I take care of myself after a massage?

Following any type of massage therapy, you should drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out of your system.

If you have access to a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi tub, or whirlpool, they are ideal ways to continue cleansing your system after your massage. If you do not have access to any of these types of facilities, a steamy shower or an Epsom salt soak bath is also a great follow-up to a massage.

If you have the time, a 30 minute aromatherapy steam tent treatment is a great way to remove the toxins from your body after a massage.

For the next 24 hours after a massage you may feel a little sore or achy. This is a normal response - a lot of cellular waste products are released into the bloodstream during massage. That achy feeling is a healing response. It should go away within 24 - 36 hours. Rest, healthy eating, and intake of fluids will help minimize the response.
